JEREMY DELLER FOR LOUIS VUITTON, LONDON
Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller is part of an unusual breed. Far from filling the somewhat self-important shoes of many of his contemporaries, he likes to give a little back to the public who have supported him. Whether he’s filling Tate Britain with bouquets or organising concerts in the countryside – Deller does not take his artistic responsibility lightly.
seems then that the creative minds at Louis Vuitton have put a lot of thought into their latest collaborative project, set to coincide with their latest store opening in the retail island of Westfield, in London’s Shepherds Bush.
The luxury giants have commissioned Deller to produce a temporary urban garden that will be unveiled at the store’s opening ceremony. Designed as a contemporary symbol of sustainability and natural energy – the garden should bring a little life to Louis’s latest retail bolthole, and in turn the somewhat synthetic Westfield environment.
